Health & Human Services Committee

The Health & Human Services Committee meets every third Tuesday of the month, except for August and December, at the Radisson Hotel from noon to 1 p.m. Committee members have the opportunity to network with others in their field, have a wonderful lunch, participate in a short business meeting, and listen to an informative program each month. Please contact the RC Chamber at 718-8480 or ulmer@rapidcitychamber.com if you are interested in participating on this committee.

Subcommittees of the Health & Human Services Committee meet at various times to plan 2 major events during the year. In November, the committee hosts a “Wind Beneath Our Wings” Outstanding Performance Awards luncheon. This prestigious award is a wonderful opportunity to recognize people in health and human service professions for outstanding service to their organization, their community and their profession.

The second event that the committee hosts is the Black Hills Health & Human Services Fair in the spring. The 27th annual Black Hills Area Health & Human Services Fair will be held Saturday, May 3, 2008 from 8:30 to 3 p.m. at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center's Rushmore Hall.

Over 85 organizations will be available to provide information to the community on the services that are available in the health & human services field. Many of the exhibitors also provided valuable screenings, such as blood pressure, diabetes, depression, spinal, cholesterol, and allergy sensitivity screenings.

Wellness demonstrations are also held during the day that included clogging, line and square dancing, taekwondo, yoga, and group exercise. Admission is free and open to the public.
