Leadership Rapid City Official Application

Application Guidelines
The Leadership Rapid City program will require your full participation. Please submit your application only if you are willing and able to devote the required time to the program. Participants who are selected and miss more than two sessions may remain in the program but will not receive tuition reimbursement or graduate with the class.
To apply,
  1. Please complete the cover form and submit it along with your typed responses to the following questions. All information is kept confidential.
  2. Please list your level of completed education (high school, college, graduate, post-graduate, doctorate). Also, indicate workshop and seminar participation.
  3. Please list your professional activities and accomplishments, including position changes that have given you more responsibility, professional institutes, career-related memberships, etc. List any professional awards or recognition received.
  4. Please list the organizations you are associated with in Rapid City or in other communities if you have not lived in Rapid City during the past 2 years. List clubs to which you belong, offices or committee positions held, board participation, volunteer activities, political positions or campaign activities, involvement in church leadership, etc. Please describe the nature of your participation as well as positions of responsibility you have held. List awards or special recognition you may have received. If you have not been involved, please explain why.
  5. Please identify and discuss a particular issue or opportunity that you feel is important to Rapid City, your organization, or agency. How will your participation in LRC help you address or be a part of this or another opportunity or issue?
  6. Please identify the various traits and leadership skills you believe are most important and support your answer.
  7. Tuition for Leadership Rapid City is $500. A limited number of partial scholarships are available to persons not otherwise able to provide tuition. Please indicate if you need tuition assistance.
  8. References: Please include two letters of recommendation (not from relatives) that confirm your qualifications as a Leadership Rapid City participant. (Note: The LRC Selection Committee may contact both individuals.)
  9. If sponsored by a business or organization, the signature of the head of the sponsoring organization is necessary as an indication of support of the nominee’s participation in LRC. Please have him/her sign your application.
  10. To help in marketing efforts, please tell us how you heard about the LRC program, including newspaper ads, the Investment Report, service clubs, friends, fellow employees, or other means. 10. Sign and date your application.

    DEADLINE: Applications must be received at the Rapid City Area Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 747, Rapid City, SD 57709, by 5:00 p.m. on June 30. No applications will be accepted after this deadline.
