127th Chamber Annual Meeting

Rapid City, SD – The Rapid City Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its 127th Annual Meeting on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center LaCroix Hall. The event will be a fun Caddy Shack golf theme. The evening will begin with a social at 6 p.m., followed by dinner and a program starting at 7 p.m.
The Chamber’s most prestigious awards will be presented at the meeting - the Young Professional of the Year Award, the Black Hills Hero Award and the George Award.
The Young Professional of the Year Award will be presented to Sara Hornick of Lutheran Social Services. Sara demonstrates vision, professionalism and involvement that positively impacts the community. Her strong awareness of community needs and passion to serve has made her a leader among her peers.
The Rapid City Convention & Visitors Bureau will present the Black Hills Hero Award to the convention planning committee and chairpersons for the National Indian Education Association (NIEA) Convention: Cecilia Firethunder, CJ Clifford, Beverly Tuttle, Jodi Richards, Robert Cook, Chris and Debbie Bordeaux and Suzanne White. The NIEA Convention will be held in Rapid City in October 2013 with approximately 1500 delegates from all over the U.S., including Hawaii and Alaska. The local planning committee has been instrumental in coordinating this large convention.
The Chamber Board of Directors will be presenting the Chamber’s highest honor – the George Award – to Ruth Brennan. Ruth has been an influential leader throughout the community and state, advocating for the arts. Her involvement and leadership roles with numerous committees and organizations have left a legacy of excellence and has benefited the arts society throughout the state.
During the 127th Annual Meeting we will also take the opportunity to recognize Chamber Board Chair Andy Ainslie of State Farm for his leadership the past year. Andy will pass the gavel of leadership to incoming Board Chair Bryan Vulcan of FourFront Design.
