Chamber Announces Award Recipients

The Rapid City Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Chamber Awards Celebration and Mixer will be 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14 at the Journey Museum. Three of the chamber’s major awards will be presented: the Rushmore Honors Awards, the ATHENA Award and the Granite Award.
The Rushmore Honors Awards highlight four individuals for their contributions to culture and the arts in the Rapid City area. This year’s recipients are Tammy Barrows – Creative Industry Leader, manager of Books-A-Million and founder of Dacoda Instrument Drive. Bruce Knowles – Educator, head of Central High School orchestra program and Black Hills Symphony Orchestra Conductor. Michael & Marc Linn – Artists, independent film makers and partners at Linn Productions. Dan Senftner – Volunteer, President & CEO of Destination Rapid City and visionary of community betterment.
The ATHENA Award recipient is an exceptional individual who has achieved excellence in her profession, has served the community in a meaningful way and has assisted women in their attainment of professional goals and leadership skills. The ATHENA Award will be presented to Renee Parker, Executive Director of the United Way of the Black Hills.
The Granite Award, sponsored by the Diplomat Committee is given to a chamber member business that is an asset to the area and a pillar of the community; a business that is as solid as granite. This year’s recipient is J. Scull Construction.
