Rapid City Chamber awarded 5-STAR Accreditation

 – By Rapid City Chamber

On Wednesday, March 2, the United States Chamber of Commerce awarded the Rapid City Area Chamber of Commerce with 5-Star Accreditation for its sound policies, effective organizational procedures, and positive impact on the community. The Rapid City Area Chamber of Commerce is one of only 67 chambers in the nation who have earned the 5-Star status putting the chamber among the top 1% of chambers nationwide.

“Accreditation validates a chamber as having programs that benefit their local economy and for positively influencing action in their community,” said Raymond P. Towle, IOM, CAE, U.S. Chamber Executive Director of Political Affairs and Federation Relations.  “We applaud these organizations for advancing the principles of free enterprise.”

Accreditation is the only national program that recognizes chambers for their effective organizational procedures and community involvement. In order to receive Accreditation, a chamber must meet minimum standards in their operations and programs, including areas of governance, government affairs, and technology. This extensive self-review can take six to nine months to complete.

“Acknowledgment of our 5-Star status from the U.S. Chamber is like getting a seal of approval that our chamber is of the highest quality in the industry, and displays the expertise and strong leadership in its contributions towards positive change in our city and state,” said Linda Rabe, IOM, CCE, Rapid City Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO.

Local chambers are recognized as a 3-Star, 4-Star or 5-Star Chamber. State chambers are recognized as either an Accredited State Chamber or Accredited State Chamber with Distinction. The final determination is made by the Accrediting Board, a committee of U.S. Chamber board members and Chamber executives from across the country.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than three million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.

The Rapid City Area Chamber of Commerce is a dynamic member supported organization dedicated to enhancing the economic well-being and quality of life in the Rapid City area and Black Hills region.
