Workforce Development Committee Awards Scholarships to Local Students

The Rapid City Foundation Scholarship is awarded in partnership of the Black Hills Area Community Foundation and the Workforce Development Committee of the Rapid City Area Chamber of Commerce. The scholarships are awarded to Rapid City residents pursuing higher education to advance their skills while attending Rapid City schools in order to successfully participate in the public sector of the Rapid City area. 

All applicants selected will be attending school at one of the following institutes: Black Hills Beauty College, Black Hills State University-Rapid City, South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, South Dakota State University West River, or the University of South Dakota Rapid City.

Chamber to Host First Crackerbarrel of 2018 Session

The Rapid City Area Chamber of Commerce’s Governmental Affairs Committee in cooperation with the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology (SDSM&T) will host the first legislative crackerbarrel on January 27 in the Didier Education Center in the Classroom Building on the SDSM&T campus from 9 to 11 a.m. 

Other crackerbarrels are scheduled for February 10 at Western Dakota Tech, February 24 at SDSM&T and March 3 at Western Dakota Tech.  Please make note of the location change for the Feb 10 and March 3 events. All crackerbarrels are free and open to the community.

Chamber Hosts Last Legislative Crackbarrel

Chamber Hosts Last Legislative Crackerbarrel

The Rapid City Area Chamber of Commerce’s Governmental Affairs Committee in cooperation with the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology (SDSM&T) will host the last legislative crackerbarrels on March 4 in the Didier Education Center in the Classroom Building on the SD Mines campus from 9 to 11 a.m.  Senator Terri Haverly, Senator Alan Solano, and Representative Chip Campbell will be the featured speakers

Doors will open at 8 a.m. for any attendees or legislators who would like to come early and have the opportunity to visit before the start of the crackerbarrel.

Crackerbarrels are free and open to the community.

Chamber's Legislative Crackerbarrels continue on February 21

The Rapid City Area Chamber of Commerce’s Governmental Affairs Committee in cooperation with the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology (SDSM&T) will host the third of four legislative crackerbarrels on February 21 in the Didier Education Center in the Classroom Building on the SDSM&T campus from 9 to 11 a.m.  Senator Alan Solano, Representative Mike Verchio, Representative Lynne DiSanto and Representative Scott Craig will be the featured speakers.

The last crackerbarrel is scheduled for March 7.  All crackerbarrels are free and open to the community.

127th Chamber Annual Meeting

            Rapid City, SD – On Saturday, September 28, the Rapid City Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 127th Annual Meeting with a Caddyshack/golf themed event. The evening began with a social hour, continued with a program, and ended when Andy Ainslie of State Farm Insurance, outgoing Board Chair, passed the leadership gavel onto Bryan Vulcan of FourFront Design.

            The event highlighted the Chambers achievements over the past year and recognized three individuals who have provided leadership, volunteerism and professionalism to the Chamber and the community. The three most prestigious Chamber awards: the George Award, the Young Professional of the Year Award and the Black Hills Hero Award were presented during the evening.
