Regional Health is an integrated health care system working to provide and support health care excellence in partnership with the communities it serves. With more than 40 locations, Regional Health is the largest health care provider in western South Dakota and offers a continuum of care through its hospitals, primary care clinics, urgent care clinics, nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Regional Health serves communities in western South Dakota, as well as neighboring counties in Nebraska, Wyoming, Montana and North Dakota. Services available include cancer care, cosmetic and plastic surgery, diabetes care, heart and vascular care, home and hospice care, physical therapy, weight management, home medical equipment and more. Rapid City Regional Hospital, Regional Health’s largest facility, is a 417-bed tax-exempt hospital and is certified as a level two trauma center. Rapid City Regional Hospital has a premier neonatal intensive care unit and is recognized as an official Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.

Black Hills Surgical Hospital, LLP is the premier surgical facility in our region providing exceptional medical services in distinctive, comfortable, patient-friendly surroundings. Black Hills Surgical Hospital is devoted to focused surgical specialization in a number of areas, including orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, gynecology and general surgery.  They perform state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging services at the imaging center.  In addition, Black Hills Surgical Hospital operates Black Hills Urgent Care, LLC in two separate facilities in Rapid City, offering prompt, high quality medical treatment for common illnesses and injuries, and no appointment is necessary. Black Hills Urgent Care is the leading provider of occupational medicine service to employers and employees throughout the region, including treatment of work related injuries, fitness for work examinations, DOT physicals and administration of drug and other employment related medical testing.

The Community Health Center of the Black Hills offers quality medical, dental and mental health care to our community on a sliding fee scale while serving patients of all ages, walks of life and levels of income, as well as patients with or without insurance at four locations in Rapid City.

The Black Hills Regional Eye Institute is a non-profit corporation dedicated to providing the most modern and complex eye care for children and adults of the region. More than 2,000 eye surgeries are performed each year in one of the four surgical rooms at the Eye Surgery Center. The Institute physicians and staff travel to 12 satellite clinics throughout the 5-state area served to provide treatment of eye problems.

Veterans Services

VA Black Hills Health Care System provides primary and secondary medical and surgical care, along with residential rehabilitation treatment program (RRTP) services, extended nursing home care, and tertiary psychiatric inpatients services for veterans residing in South Dakota, portions of Nebraska, North Dakota, Wyoming and Montana. Care is delivered through the Fort Meade and Hot Springs VA Medical Centers, as well as through a number of community-based outpatient and rural outreach clinics.
