Young Professionals Group

Our Mission
The Young Professionals Group is committed to the advancement of the twenty-one to forty-year-old workforce focusing on the development of future business leaders. The group accomplishes this by promoting professional development, networking, community involvement and civic awareness.

The YPG began with an explosive launch in March 2007 with a simple agenda: “To enrich our community by uniting and developing our young professionals.” We invite you to help build upon the momentum by joining this dynamic group.

To learn more visit the 2011 Young Professionals Group Brochure - the brochure may take a moment to load.

Our Vision
A young Professional is a goal oriented individual between the ages of 21-40 with the mind set to pursue a career path. It is not so much the job or vocation that defines the Young Professional as it is the individual’s drive and investment in his or her own future, and consequently the future of the Black Hills community and our nation as a whole.

Join YPG
There is a $50 annual membership fee. Your first year is pro-rated as the YPG bills once a year for memberships - September 1. This fee gets members into all YPG events at a reduced rate.

To become  member, fill out the YPG Membership Application and e-mail it to Karen Boydston.

Get involved with YPG through a Subcommittee

The YPG is made up of four subcommittees: Professional Development, Civic Awareness, Community Involvement and Membership/Networking. YPG members can get more involved by serving on one of these subcommittees.

Professional Development
This subcommittee strives to provide educational opportunities to Rapid City's young professionals through the form of educational conferences, forums and seminars featuring keynote speakers, accomplished business people and even young entrepreneurs who will motivate and educate young professionals to further develop their talents and become community leaders.

Civic Awareness
Through diversified programming, this subcommittee strives to provide opportunities for YPG members to learn more about civic issues happening in Rapid City. Members will observe local, state and national level politics in order to understand local, regional and global issues. This will result in a more educated public and the advancement of the Rapid City area as a civic conscious community.

Community Involvement
This subcommittee manages and organizes all YPG volunteer efforts. Every two years, this subcommittee chooses a non-profit the YPG will partner with providing volunteer support in the form of time and fundraising. The YPG makes a two year commitment to this non-profit.

Membership/Networking
This subcommittee markets the YPG, recruits new members and organizes monthly YPG socials. Providing a suitable environment through which young professionals may network, socialize and meet key leaders in the Rapid City area is also a goal of this subcommittee.

If you would like to get more involved with YPG, please review the subcommittees below and contact the chair of that subcommittee you are interested in or contactKaren Boydston at the Chamber at (605) 718-8465.
